Week 1, Day 9, Recovery Week One

Today, take a 30-minute run or 45-minute walk.

This is the beginning of our two—to three-week recovery time. The idea is to get a physical, mental, and spiritual break. We read books, nap, goof off, and get outside and enjoy nature.

The workouts will be three days a week, and you can walk or bike to get you moving.

Each day, we will have an inspirational story for you.

Olin Hacker is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin.

He was coached by Mick Byrne in Uni.

Olin went to Madison West in high school in Madison, WI.

He was coached by Tom Coffman.

Olin, who I interviewed yesterday, was inspired by his Dad, Tim, and his two brothers and cousins.

Olin had improved each year of high school, but he was beset by injuries in University.

His college coach, Mick Byrne, told him to appreciate his opportunities and Olin

has come to understand that advice.

This year, Olin took second in the US indoor champs at 3,000m, and in his

first Indoor World Champs took 5th in the 3,000m!

He will be running in the 5,000m Trials, focused on making the Olympic Trials Final.

When I asked him why so many good runners come from Wisconsin, Olin noted,

“it is probably the cheese and sausage.”

Good luck, Olin Hacker, You inspire us!

A 30-minute easy run.

If you need something to do outside (it is hot today), walk 30 minutes early, ride a bike, or, best yet, take an easy swim and enjoy the day!
